What you’ll need.

Connection
An internet connection for syncing (after that, Carnet works offline on the data it has already fetched).
Tor (optional)
On a computer, Tor Browser open, or the tor service running, to go through Tor.
Language
English and French: the app follows your system language, and you can switch in Settings. Values in euros.
What you won’t need
No account, no private key, no Ledger plugged in: just the public addresses of your accounts.

Six steps, in this order.

  1. Install Carnet.

Download the version for your device from this page, install it, then open Carnet.

  2. Create your vault.

Choose a password of at least 12 characters. It encrypts all your data and cannot be recovered, so write it down somewhere safe. The vault locks itself after 10 minutes of inactivity (adjustable), once any sync in progress has finished.

  3. Add your wallets.

Under Wallets → Add a wallet, paste each account’s public identifier, which you’ll find in Ledger Wallet (formerly Ledger Live): the JSON block from the Advanced section, or the xpub, for Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Zcash (one per account), the receiving address for Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, BNB Smart Chain, Cronos, HyperEVM, Solana, Cardano and XRP. The first sync can take a while, especially Solana staking history.

  4. Import Coinbase, if you use it.

Download your Coinbase transaction history as a CSV file, and the Coinbase Pro “Account” reports (one per year, available until the end of 2026). Import them under Imports, then delete them from your device.

  5. Turn on Tor (recommended on a computer).

In Settings → Network and privacy, switch Tor on and click “Detect”.

  6. Export a backup.

Settings → Export an encrypted backup, and keep it somewhere other than your device.
