Your crypto, accounted for and locked away.
Carnet reads your Ledger accounts and your Coinbase statements, then does the sums in euros, purchase prices included. All it knows are your public addresses: it can look, but it can’t spend.

Dashboard
Your wallet app tells you what you own. Carnet also tells you what it cost you.
- What it’s all worth, in euros. And where it sits: Ledger or Coinbase.
- Its value against what it cost you, over 3 months, 1 year, 3 years or since day one.
- Weighted average cost (WAC) or FIFO? Both are always worked out, one click apart.
- Staking, counted separately. Network fees too.
The dashboard. Made-up amounts; yours never leave your device.
Getting started
All you have to do.
-
Paste a public address.
For each Ledger account, the public identifier shown in Ledger Wallet: an xpub or a receiving address. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Cardano, XRP, Litecoin, Dogecoin, Bitcoin Cash, Zcash, Arbitrum, Avalanche, BNB Smart Chain, Cronos and HyperEVM. The Ledger itself can stay in its drawer.
-
Add your Coinbase statements, if you have any.
Coinbase and Coinbase Pro CSV files hold the one thing the blockchain doesn’t know: what you paid. Importing the same file again won’t create duplicates.
Coinbase only guarantees access to Coinbase Pro statements until the end of 2026. Download yours before then.
-
Let Carnet do the books.
It reads back each blockchain’s history, matches what you sent from Coinbase to its arrival on the Ledger and values everything in euros. Anything uncertain lands in “To review” instead of being swept under the carpet.
Purchase prices
The blockchain knows when. Coinbase knows how much.
Your Ledger sees 0.0035 BTC arrive on 16 December 2021. It has no idea you paid €147 for it two days earlier, on Coinbase. Carnet matches the two lines, and the bitcoin keeps its original purchase price.
| Date | Transaction | Account | Quantity | Purchase price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 14 Dec 2021 | Buy | Coinbase | +0.0035 BTC | €147.00 |
| 16 Dec 2021 | Sent to Ledger | Coinbase | −0.0035 BTC | – |
| 16 Dec 2021 | Received | Ledger | +0.0035 BTC | €147.00 |
- Coinbase
- The “Transaction history” statement as a CSV, older formats included.
- Coinbase Pro
- The yearly “Account” reports.
- From elsewhere
- Valued at the price on the day it arrived and flagged as an estimate; you can enter the real price.
Staking
The real yield, not the brochure one.
Carnet finds your staking positions by itself, then measures the yield from the rewards you actually received.
- Solana stake accounts
- Cardano delegation
- Liquid staking (stETH, rETH, JitoSOL…)
- Ethereum validators
- Coinbase staking

- Yield over 30 days, 90 days and 12 months, measured on the rewards you really received.
Estimates, not promises: the yield is assumed to stay constant.

39 of the top 50 cryptos are supported.
2 more are supported on some of their networks only. The remaining 9 aren’t supported yet. Crypto you keep on Coinbase is tracked through your statements.

Security
What Carnet will never ask you for.
Carnet only sees your public addresses. That’s the point. A public address lets you read a wallet, not empty it. Carnet signs no transactions, doesn’t connect to your Ledger and never talks to a server run by its publisher.
Your 24 words stay on paper. Carnet doesn’t ask for them and wouldn’t accept them. If an app or a person asks you for them, someone is trying to rob you.
What it keeps, encrypted, on your device
- Your public addresses and xpubs.
- Imported transactions: dates, quantities, amounts.
- Your corrections and settings.
What it doesn’t ask for, or doesn’t keep
- Your name, IBAN and card numbers: dropped when statements are imported.
- An account or an email address: there isn’t one to create.
- What you do in the app: no analytics, no crash reports.
Technical details
- Vault
- A single file, encrypted with your password. Argon2id for the key, XChaCha20-Poly1305 for the contents.
- Locking
- Automatic after 10 minutes of inactivity (adjustable from 1 to 240 minutes), and, on a computer, whenever you close the window.
- Network
- The interface has no network access. Only the core, written in Rust, connects over HTTPS to public blockchain and price services.
- Tor
- Optional, on a computer: Tor Browser or the
torservice. One circuit per wallet, and no direct connection while it’s on.
- Audit
- No independent security audit yet. Better you hear it from us.
Questions
Before you decide.
Do I need a Ledger?
Carnet is designed for Ledger (it understands the JSON block from the Advanced section of Ledger Wallet), but all it does is read public addresses, so addresses from another wallet work just the same. The Ledger never needs to be plugged in.
What about other exchanges?
Only Coinbase and Coinbase Pro can be imported for now. Crypto received from another exchange still shows up in your wallet, valued at the price on the day it arrived and flagged as an estimate; you can enter the amount you actually paid.
Does Carnet work out my taxes?
No. Carnet calculates your cost basis two ways, weighted average cost (WAC) and FIFO (first in, first out), along with your gains, as a guide only. It doesn’t apply the official formula of article 150 VH bis of the French tax code and doesn’t fill in any forms. One option treats swaps between cryptos as realising no gain, as French rules provide. For your tax return, talk to a professional or use a specialist tool.
What if I forget my password?
It can’t be recovered, and that is precisely what keeps anyone else out of your vault. Your funds aren’t affected (they stay on the blockchain) and your wallets will sync again into a new vault, but you would have to redo your imports and manual corrections.
How much does Carnet cost?
The distribution terms (any price, and the licence) will be set out at the public release. Either way, Carnet has no accounts and no ads, and it sells no data, because it collects none.
Carnet is coming soon.
On its way to Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android. No sign-up, and your data stays on your device.
